Verena Knerich graduated in Cultural Anthropology, Computer Science and Intercultural Communication from Ludwig-Maximilians University, Munich. Given her interdisciplinary background, she aims to work at the intersection of quantitative and qualitative fields. Her main area of interest has been social network analysis both from a theoretical as well as methodological perspective. Her theoretical work has been concerned with identifying social factors associated with the spread of substance use through the social support network of homeless people in Vancouver. Her methodological work is focused on combining social network analysis with system mapping approaches. Verena also spent some time studying and/or doing research at the National University of Singapore and the Simon Fraser University of Vancouver. Her past research experience includes exploring the effects of diversity on motivation and well-being and investigating the impact of intercultural trainings on civic mindedness and intercultural competence.
