CECAN Webinar: Redefining Evaluation to Support System Change: Theoretical and Practical Insights

Dec 10, 2021 | News

On 9th December 2021, Emily Gates (Assistant Professor of Evaluation in the Measurement, Evaluation, Statistics, and Assessment Department at Boston College) hosted a CECAN webinar; sharing her thoughts on what role evaluation should play in systems change and transformation, and how we must rethink evaluation itself to adapt to this role. The webinar drew on Emily’s work with Thomas Schwandt in their new book, Evaluating and Valuing in Social Research, to argue that the way we define evaluation needs to expand.

If you were unable to join the webinar, you can read further details and watch the session via our Events page. We are also pleased to be able to share a PDF version of the PowerPoint slides.

In case you missed this week's webinar: 'Innovation as a complex system: delivering a systems framework to measure impact within deep tech', with Brian MacAulay and Teresa Miquel from Digital Catapult, a recording is now available on the CECAN website: cecan.ac.uk/videos/
